The Hurricane Riders are a SASS sanctioned Cowboy Action Shooting Club. We are located in Aynor South Carolina and shoot on the 3rd Saturday of every month (rain or shine). Match Fee is $10 dollars.  We shoot three stages, break for lunch (served at our club house) then shoot three more stages.  During the summer months weather permitting we will also shoot a side match.  Our range is the Wildlife Action Shooting Range located on Gunter Island Road.

Come on out and give it a try.  All you need to shoot a match is a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, pair of jeans, and a long sleeve button down shirt, guns and gun leather.  There will be plenty of cowboys and cowgirls willing to answer any questions you may have.

You must be present at the safety meeting in order to shoot our monthly match! Safety meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Shooting starts at 10:00 a.m.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Cowboy Action Shooting ™?
A: Cowboy Action Shooting ™ is one of the fastest growing shooting sports around. This sport puts the emphasis on fun, fellowship, and the Spirit of the Old West. Competitors adopt an “alias” as their identity. As a member of SASS, the alias you choose is registered which makes it exclusively yours. The unique aspect of Cowboy Action Shooting ™ is the authentic period of dress which reflects the period between the Civil War and the end of the 19 th century or a B-Western movie.

Q: What do I need to get started?
A: In a match two (2) single action revolvers are needed. You will need a pistol caliber lever-action rifle and shotgun which can be a double barrel or the SASS legal Winchester 1897 pump. Leather holsters to carry your single action revolvers, pistol/rifle cartridges and shotgun ammo. A good idea is to visit a match and talk with some shooters before you buy to get helpful information on what will suit your individual needs or style.

Q: What are the Rules?
A: We are SASS affiliated and all SASS rules apply. View the on-line SASS Shooters Handbook.

Q: What are the Main Requirements to shoot a Match?
A: The first thing we require is SAFETY, safety is in everything we do, but at the same time we want all shooters to have FUN. Safety rules are stringently enforced, and no infraction is ignored.  We are committed to keeping the game, and one another, safe and healthy. All shooters are safety officers. Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times in the shooting bay areas.
